Thought of the Day

We cannot fully have our minds without doing this work to end racism. We cannot have the full joy of being alive if there is any group of people we can't think about. If anyone can be left behind - for any pretext, anywhere - it kicks the foundation out from under our lives; it will forever restimulate our fears about our own existence. Until we can identify with every other human and want as good a life for him or her as we do for ourselves, and be willing to struggle for that, our lives won't be complete. No one can be left behind without it having an effect on everyone. Working on racism is important for our own minds. Justice and other people's lives are reasons to do it, but it's also work that we do for ourselves.
