I have been leading topic groups at the Pre-World Conferences to encourage RC leaders to discharge about the transition from Tim Jackins to Teresa Enrico as our International Reference Person (IRP) for the Re-evaluation Counseling Communities (and to get their people back home working on this). We want Teresa to be well supported as she takes on this new, big, and important role.
At the Pre-World Conference in Mexico City, Judith Bautista, an Indigenous leader from Oaxaca, Mexico, talked about how Teresa’s decision to take on this role has been important for her as a leader. Her story is below. Listening to her, I realized that each of us as women RCers will want to fully claim Teresa as our model, and our inspiration for working through heavy distresses like internalized sexism, racism, classism, and so on so we can play the biggest roles we can imagine as women. We can then use the decision to keep facing our struggles and discharging any distresses that would keep us small and quiet.
Teresa is not the IRP yet, but when it comes to following her to take on our internalized oppression and become the most powerful women we can be, there is no reason for us to wait.
