Capitalism
The fact is that under capitalism, everybody is at everybody else’s throats [fighting with each other], including capitalists. The goal of the capitalists isn’t to exploit their workers only—that’s the basic source of wealth—but for a little extra dessert, to cannibalize and gobble up another capitalist. This is how you get to be a big shot [“important” person]—mergers, foreclosures, bankruptcies. There is always this fierce, murderous competition between the different sections of capitalist society, as an integral part of the system as it collapses. Under these conditions, it’s almost always possible to find allies, to maneuver people to your support in a particular situation.
