The Re-evaluation Foundation
The Re-evaluation Foundation is an independent foundation dedicated to supporting the widespread use of Re-evaluation Counseling. Below are excerpts from a letter sent in December 2021 to donors by Mike Markovits, the president of the Re-evaluation Foundation.
Dear Friend,
I would like to express my appreciation to you for your generous contributions to the Re-evaluation Foundation. And I am delighted to report to you on some of our recent activities.
Our key goals remain unchanged:
1. To make Co-Counseling available to people who would otherwise have difficulty acquiring RC information and training, especially low-income and Global Majority and Indigenous (GMI)* people [* The peoples of Africa, Asia, the Pacific Islands, the Caribbean, and Latin America, and those descended from them, and Indigenous people, are over eighty percent of the global population. These people also occupy most of the global land mass. Using the term “Global Majority and Indigenous (GMI)” for these people acknowledges their majority status in the world and interrupts how the dominant (U.S. and European) culture assigns them a minority status. Many Global Majority and Indigenous people living in dominant-culture countries have been assimilated into the dominant culture—by force, in order to survive, in seeking a better life for themselves and their families, or in pursuing the economic, political, or other inclusion of their communities. Calling these people “Global Majority and Indigenous” contradicts the assimilation.]
2. To develop RC leaders who can teach RC to low-income and GMI people
3. To bring the ideas and tools of RC to social change activists who are working on critical issues—like the climate crisis, racism, women’s oppression, and anti-Semitism
THE CLIMATE CRISIS
The Foundation supports Sustaining All Life (SAL) and United to End Racism (UER) in their work to bring the tools of RC to climate activists. These projects focus on ending divisions among people and have worked with frontline communities worldwide, including at the United Nations climate conferences (COPs). In November 2021, they sent a delegation to COP26 in Glasgow, Scotland.
They have also held workshops in many parts of the world to help RC Community members understand the climate crisis, face the reality of it, and decide how best to get involved in positive change.
The Re-evaluation Foundation now has one paid employee dedicated to SAL.
In working on the climate crisis, we adopt a perspective of confidence and hope and aim to clear away whatever stands in our way of holding out hope to others.
COVID-19
Online activities brought by COVID-19 opened new opportunities for global connections. The pandemic also revealed the severity of the global “digital divide.” The Re-evaluation Foundation purchased Zoom licenses for many RC Communities and made possible Regional and global workshops. Our Wi-Fi data packages helped hundreds of people participate in RC.
FINANCIAL UPDATE
From 2017 to 2020, the Foundation allocated more than $2,000,000 to over a hundred RC projects.
Our operating expenses ($28,000 in 2020) have been primarily for accounting, bookkeeping, and general office work.
Volunteer board members do most of the work of the Re-evaluation Foundation.
The need for funding is growing as RC continues to expand globally and reach more low-income and GMI populations. We have begun our first major fundraising campaign for SAL.
People can now donate on our new website, , as well as by mail, with checks payable to the Re-evaluation Foundation.
APPRECIATION
The projects funded by the Re-evaluation Foundation are world changing. The theory and practice of RC enable people to think more clearly, act more boldly, and lead in their communities. Thank you for your past contributions. We hope you will continue to support this critical work.
With best wishes,
