Co-Counselling with RCers Active in the Climate Movement
I first read about global warming around 1990. The information alerted me to the danger facing our earth. Early on, I went on marches and volunteered at Greenpeace, offered film and discussion nights to community members at my local library, and held listening posts at markets.
Co-Counselling with RCers active in the climate movement has been important. We think about each other, learn what works, and figure out how to be more strategic. I’m counseling on how to respond to people who are disapproving of activists and to people who are in denial—how to feel indignant and still maintain a connection. Whenever I get a chance to connect with a young person, either by being playful or listening to their upset, I’m reminded of the importance of connecting.
