Working-Class People Should Take the Lead
It was great to be part of the working-class economics group. We understood that working-class people should take the lead in economics and in building a fairer society. We got our heads together to understand Kate Raworth’s Doughnut Economics. We realised that previous economic theories have had vested interests at their heart.
To transform the world into a fairer one for humanity and nature, economics has to be transformed, and this means listening to ideas from working-class people. As the book said, “We are economists now.” We can save our planet and future and take economics away from vested interests.
Thank you, Melissa, for your leadership and for giving us confidence.
