Choosing a Perspective
There’s a feeling I have anytime we are at Black Liberation and Community Development (BLCD) events. It’s a feeling of being brothers and sisters. Though separated by geography and different cultures, we love each other and encourage each other to be the best we can, despite the odds.
A recent BLCD meeting started with Barbara Love [International Liberation Reference Person for African Heritage People] welcoming us to the new year, 2022. She asked us to say one word for this year. She talked about choosing a perspective. We often assume that circumstances determine our choices. However, we can choose a perspective and organize our life based on it.
My perspective for this year is “resilient”—that nothing can stop me.
