An Online Reading Program
About thirty people participated in our recent online RC reading group program. One group met during the day and the other in the evening. I expected some people would disappear after the first or second week, yet most stayed to the end.
In the first section, people read The Human Side of the Human Beings, by Harvey Jackins. In the second section, they read RC materials on three topics—women’s liberation, men’s liberation, and early sexual memories.
We just finished our third and last section—on the Guidelines for the Re-evaluation Counseling Communities.
We first divided each group into smaller groups of three to four in which people shared their ideas and asked questions arising from the reading. Then everyone returned to the big group and did the same.
These reading groups were a wonderful way to get people reading RC written materials. Many said they’d gotten much more from the group reading than they had when reading alone.
It has been hard not to have in-person events due to COVID. But it is great that we are smart enough to try new ways to keep things going and be hopeful.
