Family Work in China

This year we have had three RC playdays in China for families with three-to-six-year-old children.

We have also continued giving online classes for parents. The first parents’ class was at the end of 2019. It was an in-person class in Beijing. We later moved it online as COVID-19 had changed daily life everywhere. After successfully finishing two trials at no charge, we divided the children into two age groups and charged for the following six five-week classes.

This year we have offered two classes for parents who want to learn to listen to children ages ten to eighteen and two classes for those wanting to learn to listen to children ages three to ten. Each class has had no more than six students.

We always have two homework assignments for the parents. One is to be listened to themselves for at least forty minutes between the one-hour classes. The other is do “special time” at least once with their children—or just listen to them, or just try to get close to them if that is difficult to do.
