Asking Questions and Writing Letters

I asked my neighbors in my apartment complex what they thought about the wildfire smoke that we get here in Oregon (USA). A next step would be to ask, “What are we going to do about it?” And another good question might be, “Who do you know that’s doing something, and what are they doing?”

I’ve been writing letters to the editor of the local newspaper, about once a month, to clarify my own thinking about political and environmental topics. All the letters have been published, though that isn’t a direct way to connect with others for action.

I’d like to shift the discussion from “What do we do about the forest fires (hurricanes, flooding, heat waves, depending on where we live)?” to the wider question, “What do we do about the huge influence the big energy corporations have on stifling climate action?”
