The Most Elegant Organization I Have Come Across
I have been practicing RC in New Zealand since I learned about it in 2001. It has been fundamental in helping me come out of a cycle of abusive relationships. I have also learned and understood too many things to list. Among them is the power of just sitting with a friend in need, with loving acceptance, and giving them the space to tell their story, uninterrupted.
Of massive importance, I have learned about systemic oppression in society, how it targets me and people different from me, how it divides us, and how difficult it makes organizing together for important progress. Understanding the struggles endured by others has given me the opportunity to connect and create precious relationships with people I would never have met and to deepen relationships I already had.
Despite being a collection of humans with all their personal hurts and ancestral traumas, Re-evaluation Counseling is the most elegant organization I have ever come across. It has the broadest and highest aspirations for inclusion, equality, and healing for all. It has evolved systems that are exemplary and could inspire any other organizations with similar aspirations for equality and ending oppression.
I thank the thousands of Co-Counsellors across the world for their hard work and good thinking.
