Inspiring and Insightful

The Workshop for People of the Global Majority (PGM) for Continental Europe, in February 2021, was particularly inspiring and insightful. It was led by Marlene Melfor, an RC teacher in the Netherlands.

Marlene made it clear that everyone belongs. This was evident in the diversity of PGM at the workshop. Our close relationships were evident and intensely felt. It seemed like a celebration.

We have been kept in place [subdued] by our unprocessed emotions and experiences. This has made it difficult to connect with each other. We can become isolated.

It is not our fault that we internalised the oppressions and have acted accordingly. The system has made oppression “ours.” However, we must take responsibility for understanding and discharging the patterns. We have to go to the child in us and discharge the hurts that became patterns. So, discharge, discharge, and discharge again.

We need to be aware of the place we as PGM occupy in the world. Our presence matters. The connectedness we have with each other is a great contradiction to the oppressions that are being acted out worldwide. We can keep reaching out to each other! We have a common focus—our liberation.

My goal is to use the information gained from the workshop for my development as a human being, and to share the information with others.
