Oppression
Depends on
Distress Patterns

The oppressive societies have never been able to function except on the basis of distress patterns. The distress patterns were already there or oppression would never have worked.

We have seen enough of people emerging from distress to say with complete confidence that no human being would ever accept being oppressed, would ever submit to oppression, except through the installation of patterns of oppression upon him or upon her. We have seen enough to say clearly that no human being would ever accept functioning in any oppressor role without first having patterns of oppression installed upon that person and then being manipulated into the oppressor end of the pattern.
