About form letter soliciting funds for UER
Dear Co-Counselor,
Attached is a fundraising letter designed to be given to friends outside of RC, telling them a bit about RC, our work on eliminating racism, and the United Nations Conference Against Racism in Durban, South Africa, and asking them to make a contribution to this project.
Though there are sections of the letter in brackets that must be edited first, the letter is written in such a way that it could be signed by any RCer. It explains that tax-deductible contributions can be made through The Re-evaluation Foundation.
It's important that the letter be used only as an opening and not as a substitute for personal contact, both in terms of asking for contributions and about giving people a fuller picture of RC. It's also important that Co-Counselors understand that this fundraising needs to take place outside of RC.
Because the areas of racism and money are so difficult for people to think about, a letter like this should only be sent by people who have been part of a group thinking and discharging about it under the leadership of someone who has done some work here, and with the knowledge of the ARP, RRP, or ILRP.
Please note: there are several places that make reference to your own community or to people to call or write with questions. They are noted with [brackets]. These need to be changed to refer specifically to you or your community.
Sincerely,
Ellie Putnam
