Theory and Policy
Re-evaluation Counseling theory has been developed both inductively and deductively. Anything that is added to the theory and practice of Re-evaluation Counseling is examined carefully and accepted only if it is consistent with the already-in-place parts of the theory. In one sense, Re-evaluation Counseling theory and practice can be viewed as the uncovering of reality from the confusions which have been placed upon it by misinformation, oppression, and the operation of distress patterns. Policy consists of proposals for the application of theory, of guidelines drawn up from past experience for such application, and structures for implementing these actions consistently and cooperatively by all the people involved. Liberation policy statements are always draft liberation policy statements, expected to be revised further with the gaining of additional knowledge.
