Japanese Heritage RCers

I want to get Japanese-heritage RC moving. I intend to start by holding a Japanese leaders' workshop on the weekend of January 27, 1996. What I would like to do is gather Japanese-heritage RCers in the U.S. who are interested in developing Japanese RC and figure out what needs to happen and what role they would each be willing to take. We will work on being close to each other and to other Japanese-heritage people. I have talked to a few people about coming, and they have all been enthusiastic about it. My sister, Sue Yoshiwara, has agreed to organize the workshop. It will be near San Francisco, California.

Other developments: I will be leading an Asian workshop in California in March. It's the same workshop that Francie Chew led last year. I'm scared about doing it, but it will be a good experience for me. I have also told the RC Community in Olympia that I want to teach a fundamentals class this spring and that people of color will have priority. I wanted to provide a concrete goal for myself and others in Olympia to recruit people of color into our Community. It seems to be working so far. I am sure it helps, too, that Steve Thompson is focusing on eliminating racism in his ongoing class during this period.
