Estimado Tim,

"No va a poder venir," me dijo Xabi.

Ahora puedo pensar mejor. Yo no llego tan lejos.

English translation of the preceding letter:
Dear Tim,
Yesterday Xabi "shot me directly in the heart" with the news of Harvey's death. At first I thought it was a joke, but when I saw the tears in his eyes, I realized it was true. With great pride I had shown Xabi Harvey's letter of June 7, 1999, in which he announced his visit to Camagüey. "He won't be able to come," Xabi said.
Now I can think about it better. It is not necessary for Harvey to come to Camagüey. He is here. He arrived three years ago and he hasn't left. He never will. There are millions of people who have his ideas a hundred percent. I am not so far from that. I am just barely starting, but every day I get closer to his work, to him.
I am sure that at the end of the next century, when people are writing the history of humanity, Harvey's name will be familiar to all the inhabitants of the earth. I am convinced that those inhabitants will be on earth thanks to a man who in the twentieth century dedicated more than half his life to humanity.
Harvey has been transformed, he has not died. He continues living the eternal life of "the big ones."
