Learning to Listen

My own goal of meeting with other Catholic activists was achieved by attending workshops on issues related to religion and empowerment and dialogues between people from opposing ends of this spectrum. It was interesting to be a part of these discussions and to make some contribution toward respect of each other’s point of view in some often bitter arguments about which approach was “correct.” I managed on a few occasions to insist that people listen without interrupting. This meant that at least everyone was heard even if they did not agree.  I was interested to hear from a wide range of people from different faiths and beliefs about their individual thinking and the role of their religion’s organisation or church group in world change activities.
