At workshops Re-evaluation Counselors have gradually evolved some validating, non-competitive sports. Not everyone can participate in all of them because of the different disabilities, fears, and vulrierabilities which different people have to contend with, but much of the destructive, invalidating, competitive distress usual in competitive sports has been eliminated. This can be illustrated by Re-cvaluation Counseling vollcyball, where no score is kept, the side that loses the point wins the serve, and servers can get as close to the net as they wish and can throw the ball over if they would rather not hit it. Every server is permitted, encouraged, and sometimes required to try over and over again until a good serve is achieved. One can reach under the net to help the other side to keep the ball in the air, and sometimes both sides shout triumphantly the total number of times that the ball is hit into the air before it strikes the ground.
