United to End Racism (UER) will be sending a small delegation to the World Social Forum in Caracas, Venezuela, in January 2006 to lead workshops, in Spanish and English, on Healing the Damage Caused by Racism and The Role of White People in Ending Racism. The World Social Forum describes itself as: “an open meeting place for reflective thinking, democratic debate of ideas, formulation of proposals, free exchange of experiences and interlinking for effective action, by groups and movements of civil society that are opposed to neoliberalism and to domination of the world by capital and any form of imperialism, and are committed to building a planetary society directed towards fruitful relationships among Humankind and between it and the Earth.” This will be UER’s first time to attend the World Social Forum, though we have had a presence at a number of local social forums. There will be a United States Social forum in 2007.
